    What is an Ambassador?


    An Ambassador is an individual who volunteers his time to work at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba to support the event and the local community. A World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba Ambassador performs various functions to assure the successful operation of México’s Only PGA TOUR Event. Some Ambassadors are golfers who participate also because they love golf and want to be involved in this historic golf tournament, while other Ambassadors are totally new to golf and get involved because they want to support the community and its most significant event.

    Why does a PGA TOUR event need Ambassadors?


    All PGA TOUR events are operated with the help of many individuals who donate their time to the tournament. Due to the nature of golf and the complex setup of a major golf tournament, hundreds of people are required to help with the operations from crowd control to scoring to helping the professional golfers in various ways. Relying on Ambassadors to perform these functions allows PGA TOUR events throughout the United States, Canada and now México to donate tremendous amounts of money to charity each year.

    Why are they called Ambassadors at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba?


    The World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba uses the term “Ambassador” to depict the international nature of the event since the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba is the only PGA TOUR event played outside of United States territory and Canada. Additionally, the international flavor of the diverse Playa del Carmen community, as well as the many people who travel to the Riviera Maya and Cancún regions specifically to participate in this program, make the phrase “Ambassador” a perfect fit to describe this group of dedicated people.

    In addition to the diversity of nations and cultures represented among the Ambassadors, each individual who participates is a representative of the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba throughout the year. While at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, they also are official representatives of their respective group, company or charity.

    Where do the Ambassadors come from?


    Many Ambassadors become involved as individuals simply because they love golf or they want to support a major event in their community. But many others are involved as part of their company, club or charity organization, which have formed partnerships with the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. Also, several local universities participate by encouraging their students to earn community service hours by working as an Ambassador.

    Many Ambassadors live right here in the Riviera Maya and Cancún regions; Playa del Carmen, Cancún, Cozumel, Playacar, Puerto Morelos, Paamul, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and more.

    Additionally, Ambassadors have come from many locations all over México and the world, such as: México City, Monterrey, Merida, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Florida, Wisconsin, California, Arizona, Texas, St. Louis, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, England, Scotland, St. Vincent and more.

    There are more than 600 Ambassadors who participate in the program each year.
