Q. Justin, just assess your round today. Looked like you were a little frustrated out there at times on the greens.

JUSTIN THOMAS: Not as much on the greens as up to the greens. I made a lot of really nice putts today. I hit some good putts that I felt like could have gone in that just didn't. Yeah, I just didn't drive it well, didn't get off to a good enough start to really put any pressure on Viktor. It was a little windier, a little harder today, but I still wasn't swinging it very good and I felt like I really got away with how I felt over the ball the last couple days better than I would have thought and I think it just kind of caught up to me today.

Q. Twelfth hole, take me through that second shot where you tried to play it around the trees. You ended up making a pretty decent bogey.

JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, it wasn't that hard of a shot. When you're able to get the club on the ball, we can move it quite a bit, especially hooking it with a short iron like that. The only issue was I had like a little bit of kind of like an acorn on the right side, so I gave it a little bit more room in case it shot left so it didn't hit a tree. I felt like that was one I could have hit on the green. It would have been a really hard shot, but yeah, you don't want to make any disasters there, but at the point I was at I really need to make a 3 there, so that 5 hurt.

Q. After the way you started on Thursday, how happy are you about how you got to this point?

JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, I'm very pleased. Showed a lot of great things, a lot of positives. Really putted the ball well this week. I felt like I had a lot to gain on that. Just got to tighten up my swing and some things here and there, but all in all, yeah, it was nice to get in contention.

Q. What was it like playing with Carlos out there today?

JUSTIN THOMAS: It's great. Mexico's so great with their fans. They're so loyal to their own and yeah, he's a celebrity here, as he should be. He played great and really finished very, very strong those last seven holes. He just had to make that putt on 18 to clip me by one.
