    Third Round Interview: Russell Henley

    Q. So another good day out there today. Maybe can we just get some general comments about your round. What was working well for you?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, had some nice par saves, made a lot of good putts from five to eight feet and just, you know, hung in there. On the back nine I started hitting it better and got into a little groove. Yeah, just overall it wasn't as solid tee to green as the first two days, but still managed to get the ball in the hole.

    Q. Your results at this tournament haven't been spectacular, but what's been different maybe this year than any other year?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, I think I'm just, I felt a little bit better off the tee getting the ball in play. One of the years I missed the cut, I actually was in the top-10ish when I got done Friday and got disqualified for like -- well, I missed it because of an eight-shot penalty, so that was a weird one. But I do feel good about this place. I feel like I can play well here, but it is difficult.

    Q. Heading into tomorrow's final round, six-shot lead, where are you at kind of mentally as you approach a finale with a chance to win on the PGA TOUR again?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I'm just going to try to get my mind off of golf a little right now and get some dinner and watch a little football, maybe watch the World Series and just kind of go into tomorrow, new day and just do the best I can.

    Q. Do you pay attention to something like that, where you're at on the leaderboard, or just try to stick to your game plan?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I might take a glance here or there, but it doesn't really change my game plan.

    Q. Do you remember the last time you may have had a lead like this, college, professional, a six-shot lead going into the final round? And is it weird in a way when you're that far clear and have that much to --

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm clear because you can make a lot of birdies out here, but I don't think I've ever had a lead like this. Yeah, it's definitely tough to finish golf tournaments, so I'm just really trying not to think about the score and just think about each shot.

    Q. You had some moments today where you had to kind of lean on some escape artistry, but again you kept it clean. Does it look as steady as it seems out there for you?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Probably not. I mean, I try to stay pretty even. But yeah, I mean, I'm uncomfortable over a lot of shots just like anybody else would be playing this course. Yeah, it's been a great three days and I'm really excited.

    Q. How important was the up-and-down at two to sort of keep that going? You get the birdie at one, pump it into the mangroves over there, to get that one up and down and just kind of keep it clean early in the round?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, that was great. I mean, definitely didn't want to drop a shot, but also knew after I hit an 8-iron in there that worst case, I'm even through two. I didn't put a crazy amount of pressure on myself and rolled it in.

    Q. This is a golf course that you know there's going to be birdie opportunities, guys are going to be making runs. You don't have to leave the strategy behind even with the lead like you have going into tomorrow because you know there's going to be runs and you can go on one yourself.

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, I mean, out here you've got to keep attacking. Everybody's so good and everybody can go low, so it's a tough game out here.

    Q. What did you figure out? I know you said a couple swings with the driver early on. Anything that you just kind of felt in the swing in that round that got you more comfortable?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, my tendency is to fall back a little to my right instead of driving through to my left side. So I think when I lose it a little right, that's kind of what I do. Just tried to slow down, give it a rip.
